My name is Diana Schmies.

I'm a self-taught wildlife photographer.

Although I've loved animals and photography since childhood, it wasn’t until a few years ago that I began combining these two passions.

Initially, I started as a professional portrait and advertising photographer, later studying art history and working as a photography curator. Over time, my growing interest in environmental issues, human–wildlife conflicts, and animal rights led me back to practical photography, focusing on creative yet ethical wildlife photography. I also offer workshops promoting sustainable practices and aim to (re)connect people with the natural world.
